Mathematics department in currently in the process of transitioning to a new, integrated math program called Core Plus. Core-Plus Mathematics, is a standards-based, four-year integrated series covering the same mathematics concepts students learn in the Algebra 1-Geometry-Algebra 2-Precalculus sequence. Concepts from algebra, geometry, probability, and statistics are integrated, and the mathematics is developed using context-centered investigations.
During this transition, some class will continue to use the Carnegie Learning texts and computer programs. The Carnegie Learning program is also context-centered program that uses an intelligent computer program to help students learn independently.
All mathematics classrooms are structured on student centered learning. In addition to the academic focus of the classroom, we also work to develop students’ collaborative and teamwork skills in the classroom.
