Academy for College and Career Exploration

Science at ACCE is dynamic.  For too long science has been taught like a tour through a natural history museum, where teachers give students information about the way the natural world works as if it is stationary and fact.  At ACCE we see science as a process.  We have constructed courses, and lessons within those courses, that allow students to discover things about the natural world that scientists have discovered for hundreds of years.  As students become knowledgeable of what scientists already know, we push them forward to critically think of and perform experiments that will strengthen our collective knowledge of the natural world.  At ACCE students learn what they need to be prepared for a college science class, but they also learn how to find out new information about science.
